This is my favorite carry about lens for my 50 D. I am not a fan of altering a lens unless I definitely should. I find this lens works for most purposes with the exception of macro and for that I have a Canon EF 100. I took the 18-200 lens on a current trip to Peru and it performed well within the low light of the Amazon jungle and equally properly at Machu Picchu. I rarely took it off for the duration of the three week trip. I took 9000 pictures on this trip and was nicely pleased with most results.I rarely used my 70 - 300 although my friend did use his. He missed a whole lot of shots that I got and my results had been over all much better than his and we each applied a 50 D. He has now purchased an 18-200. If you want an over all walk around lens,this is often a superior choice. (Read More...)
