Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG APO Macro Motorized Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon SLR Cameras

Product Review

You will find a whole lot of differing views on this lens. Thats great. Everybody's thoughts had been quite useful to me in deciding to purchase this. I'm glad I did. For the Price it truly is tough to get a greater deal. A great deal of reviews complain about it not getting faster or this or that. The reality is all of the points it lacks only come in a far more high-priced cost range. If you have much more money to invest and want a thing better then certainly it exists and you should get that. If you only desire to devote a couple hundred dollars and get a really sharp, versatile, multi-use lens then there is certainly not much that could compete. In the last month I've shot a whole lot with this lens and continually been impressed and content with it contemplating just how much I paid for it. I've used the macro mode and shot gorgeous shots of insects, moss and water droplets. I've utilised the lengthy end of the zoom to shoot surfers, sunsets, fisherman, ships, youngsters playing on the beach as well as a wedding. Whether in bright sunlight or dim twilight, all of it is really sharp and exceeds my expectations for any lens at this cost range. (More...)

Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8-4.5 SLD Aspherical DC Optical Stabilized (OS) Lens with Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

Product Review

I'm using this lens on a Nikon D200. Following destroying my 18-200mm Nikon VR I wanted a inexpensive "walkabout lens" that I could danger destroying as I do a good deal of industrial shooting exactly where it's straightforward to whack a lens. I bought this lens regardless of some less than glowing critiques. I really liked the self-contained style exactly where nothing changes length when zooming or focusing. I also liked the concept of it being f/2.8 at the wide finish. This lens has a boatload of chromatic aberration at wider settings which is it's chief drawback. I use Lightroom 2.6 and it is perfectly correctable which enhances its wide finish sharpness at the same time. This lens is sharp sufficient at all zooms stopped down just somewhat. It is really quite a surprise. I wouldn't attempt to make billboards with it, but it should print up to 12x18 having a small care in shooting. The optical stabilization on mine is truly extremely great and I'm impressed with how far it permits me to push the shutter speed on nonetheless life shots. (More Detail...)

Tamron AF 90mm f/2.8 Di SP AF/MF 1:1 Macro Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

Product Review

I'm not a specialist but an avid amateur enthusiast, this lens is really unbelievable. This really is the first non-Nikon lens I have bought and I have been using it for about 14 months. It's lightweight and sharp end to finish, it does a very very good job on macrophotography. It tends to hunt a bit when set to full concentrate, but that could be expected because of the huge focal range. For portraits and very tight close-ups I totally adore this lens. The image good quality and sharpness is out of this world. The style of the concentrate ring makes it quite easy to switch between manual and auto focus, which is probably one of the far better design capabilities of this lens. It feels somewhat low cost as a result of the polymer construction but it is affordable and quite lightweight so it makes it simple to walk around with. I tested before getting. I employed the nikkor 105mm macro along with the Sigma 105, the nikkor has a far better feel construction wise (for 3x the price) but I could not tell a difference in performance. I felt this lens performed considerably better than the Sigma 105mm. (Review More...)

Tokina AT-X116PRDXN AT-X PRO DX 11-16mm Ultra-wide Angle Lens for Nikon

Product Review

I truly purchased this lens from Amazon as a kit, which included a 77mm low profile UV filter and camera cleaning kit. But given that all of the reviews for this lens are here, I am posting my evaluation here at the same time. I was in the market for a super-wide angle DX lens, and I had originally considered a Nikon 10-24. Then I ran across this lens in numerous critiques that suggested the Tokina may be a terrific alternative. I own several Nikon lenses, and this is the first time I didn't purchase a Nikon lens. I'm really glad I bought the Tokina 11-16 lens. My 1st consideration was the focal length. The cause I am buying the lens is for a super-wide angle, so the 10mm of the Nikon vs. the 11mm of the Tokina was one of the most important concern. Published specifications indicate a 109 Deg Field-of-View for the Nikon, and 104 Deg for the Tokina. Doing a bit of math suggests a 4% wider image for the Nikon. (Read More...)

Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S ED VR II Nikkor Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon DX-Format Digital SLR Cameras

Product Review

I think it was Thom Hogan who described this lens as not excellent but actually very good at every thing. That's the evaluation in a nutshell. This really is what I would term a prosumer lens. It undoubtedly is just not low cost yet it does not have the develop high quality of Nikon's top-of-the-line. The barrel, by way of example, is plastic instead of metal. I fear that a drop would be catastrophic and even a challenging bang on the edge of a table might do critical harm if the lens was totally extended. On the other hand, this lens can be a lot less expensive than those inside the Nikon pro line. Additionally, the lens is significantly lighter and easier to carry than it would be were it made entirely of metal. It is my understanding that the only meaningful difference between this lens (the VR II) and its instant predecessor may be the addition of a cam lock to prevent lens creep. My own sample doesn't creep at all, even using the cam unlocked but apparently that has been a considerable irritant for several buyers. (More...)
